One thing I’ve struggled with for a while now is paint storage. You can see my wall hanging rack right next to my airbrush station, and although it works well enough, it was getting rather full.
Last week I noticed our local hobby shop was closing and also that they were putting everything up for sale, including the display rack for the Tamiya paints. Today was the shop’s last day, so I got to go and bring the rack home. Although the store is just a short walk from my home, the rack is pretty heavy. It comes in three sections so I was able to get it home with the help of my eldest daughter. Reassembly was easy enough, although I did get the top section on upside-down at first and had to try again. Then I got to put my paints onto it. On the top section I put the larger bottles, Tamiya thinners and Alclad primers and airbrush cleaner. Also on the top section I put my bottles of Alclad metallic paints. They nearly fall through the holes, but in pairs they’re pretty stable. On the middle section I’m putting my collection of Tamiya paints in their marked places. I could have got the shop’s Citadel paint rack instead, butI don’t have any Citadel paints and I do have a lot of Tamiya! On the bottom section I put my Createx paints. Like the Alclad bottles they don’t sit quite right, but I’m sure I’ll get creative with some sheet plastic and make a better solution.
Now the wall hanging rack has a lot more space and there I’m keeping my Rowney and Vallejo paints, and also the paints I’ve mixed up for specific projects.
